Bear country

Drove onto Mammoth Springs which is the northeast section of the park. There some very cool thermal terraces that look like ice castles. It started to rain and get cool out so we went to the boiling river. There were hot springs that flowed into the Gardiner River.  It was us and the usual hodge podge of Yellowstone tourists ( Western Europeans, mid westerners, Asians, Utahans, etc.) and some bonus Neo-hippies, one of whom had a cat perched on her shoulder.... AWESOME!

We next headed to Lamar Valley which is teeming with wildlife. There is supposed to be 3000 bison in the entire park and I would say half of them were in this stunning valley. Mike thought he was the bison whisperer, and got very close to a bull trying to cross the road. I was ready to post a YouTube video of him about to get attacked, but his soothing words let him live another day.

Watch your step!

Pronghorn antelope... They are wicked fast!

A fifth grader amazed us with a lengthy and detailed description of this petrified redwood.

Sunset leaving the valley. By the way, this  was the most scenic valley I have seen to date... Straight Sound of Music action... You know what I am sayin'!

Finally found a campground after dark in Gallatin National Forest. Heavy grizzly activity as well as other wildlife. A deer crossed the road on the way to our spot and Mike saw 2 coyotes outside Olive a minute ago. A grizzly could open this rig up like a can of tuna.
